yeah...lol I'm saxophone section leader... I play alto saxophone. We have merembas...(however that's spelled) and that takes the place of the piano. I wouldn't call myself a pianist...I'm not really good, it takes me forever to get good at a song and that's because I practice it non-stop. But no, they don't have pianists at band camp...

aaaaawwwh you play the sax??? GOD i sooooooo want to learn!! (i've become obsessed about it you don't realize how much i mean that...) because of when i learned to love soul music, and jazz, and some great memories, i sooo wana learn, but my parents don't wana buy me one, and I'm broke some day..... I have a friend who learned to play by herself (and plays magnificently wooooow) is she like incredibly talented, or is it easy to learn alone (if i ever get enough money to buy one and then even need to pay 4 classes i'll never make it!)

It's actually amazingly easy...lol that's why people get so good. Also if you play the saxophone you can play any other woodwind instrument, so that's cool. You should start saving your money and maybe get a cheap one on ebay. At first you'll be like, "this sounds like s***!" because everyone does in their frist year...you'll sound honky and loud instead of smooth but after a couple of years you'll sound great because you've developed your tone. If you ever do get a chance, private classes would be great. You'd be surprised how much you can learn by going to a professional of your instrument, and how much better you'll get by all their tips and techniques. I've never been to a private class but I did get to go to a university where they had a special day for high school players and taught you a few things and that really helped me.
