Yes...but from personal experience imo, the person would have to want help..otherwise its just pointless...the best thing to do is just be there for them.

So in your eyes, if you suffer, everyone else should suffer too?? That's VERY mature! Yeah, it is. (i was being sarcastic)

I would definately help them out. infact, I've been in this situation twice before. I've always been the "peacemaker" ever since elementary school. If someone was off by themselves with their head down I would go and comfort them, it didn't matter if they were my friend, it's just the way I am, you feel bad, I'll try to make you feel better. People seem to just pour their thoughts and feelings out when they are troubled...I know tons of secrets about tons of people that i will never tell. They need someone to listen to their troubles, someone to understand them, that's who you need to be when you are dealing with a suicidal friend, a listener. Don't try to force them out of it just get them to open up to you. Also, you have to understand that depression is more than just being sad, it's a medical condition for some people. My mom has clinical depresssion which means that her brain doesn't have the right amount of chemicals in it for her to control her feelings or emotions. She takes medicine for it but even then there can be bad days. You need to figure out which kind of depressed your friend is. You need to figure out the problem and tell them to see a therapist or psychiatrist so they can tell your friend whether it's a medical condition or just an experiance in their life that's making them feel that way.
