I write fantasy novels. At the moment I'm up to 49,000 words (that's about 91 Word pages) on one and have planned another entire series.
Now I've got this idea for another. Anyway, here's the deon of one character. Please tell me what you think of her. I'm working on planning the hero Raden, she's the heroine.
Cahlae (pronounced kaa-lay).
She's what I call a "Cadral" (made it up haha). First I guess I should tell you what a Cadral is;
Cadral's are always women. They wear plain scarlet red dresses that are square-necked and low cut with no trim. The sleeves are long but split to the inner elbow so that the lower part of the sleeves hangs down when they lift their arms. The bottom of these sleeves are pointed. This dress marks a Cadral. Cadral's also wear gold chains, one on each wrist and another, larger, one for a belt.
Cadral's have the ability to cause extreme pain to whoever they touch. It has to be a skin to skin touch. They cannot hold this power back, it occurs no matter who is the one they touch/touches them. If they are angry enough or wish to they can kill someone, but it knocks them out for a few hours.
They also have another ability called the Shade. The use of the Shade rarely happens. To use the Shade the Cadral must be willing to give her life for someone else. Cadral's are generally sadistic, masochistic, selfish people so no-one has used the Shade in eons. Once released the Shade feeds on the Cadral who released it's power. They literally suck the Life out of her. It kills whoever wishes the other person harm. The Cadral dies afterwards.
Cadral's are always pale with blonde hair. They rarely smile. They are used to torture confessions out of people, or just to torture. They are experts at getting information.
Cahlae is different. She does not enjoy torturing and she has black/brown hair that she wears loose rather than pulled into a bun or braid. She ran away from the palace where she was born to seek out the hero who would end the reign of the evil King who employs the Cadrals (I haven't planned the plot past this).
Anyway, she's tall, real tall, and strong too. Not grossly over muscled or anything, just strong. Her skin is pale no matter how much sun she gets, and it is blemish free always. Her eyes are bright blue (none other than Cadral's have blue eyes). She is strong mentally as well physically, and has a strong sense of right and wrong. She wants to save her sister Cadrals.
Oh, and another part of a Cadral is that if they wish to inflict pain it does not affect them. They feel nothing. Same occurs for if someone brushes accidentally against them. But if they touch someone they would never wish to hurt in a million years then they feel the pain tenfold. It could break them.
I sort of got the idea for Cahlae from Kahlan the Mother Confessor in the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind (what my fave TV show Legend of the Seeker is based on). She's sort of a mix between a Mord-Sith and a Confessor (if anyone understands these two XD).
To see what she looks like just google "Kahlan" or "Confessor" or "Bridget Regan".
