Bette Midler says original ‘Hocus Pocus’ cast members want to return for sequel
The Sanderson sisters could once again be putting a spell on you in the near future.
“Hocus Pocus,” the beloved 1993 Halloween comedy set and filmed in Salem and surrounding towns, will reportedly have a sequel coming to Disney+. While initial reports said that the original film’s witchy Sanderson sisters — played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy — would not be involved, Midler now suggests otherwise.
I'm curious to know how they are going to pull off this sequel. The story-line seems so complete, aside from when Winfred's spell book awoke in the ending. It made for a cliffhanger, like the book was going to reveal another spell or something to bring the sisters back. I think an interesting plot would be to introduce another witch that was a rival to the sisters and the reveal is forced somehow to bring them back, which would make the sisters reluctantly team up with Max, Dani and Allison. Another interesting plot would be if they introduced the sister's mother or another relative that brings them back so that the sisters can enact revenge once again on Max, Dani and Allison. A third possible plot could be Dani's children snooping around the sister's home and inadvertently bringing back the sister's through another method (a second black flame candle or another magical method) and the sister's this time taking their revenge out on Dani's children, which would result in Max, Dani, and Allison teaming up with Dani's children to stop the sisters. The possibilities are endless. I'm sure Disney has already thought everything through. But my hope is that the squeal gives the original justice like the way it did for 'Incredibles II'.
